Yvette Atanacio started with no plan. No brand. Just a batch of muffins baked for her husband’s office snack. That small act of love became the spark behind Bloom Cakes by Winter, opening a door to healing, income, and purpose. As a stay-at-home mom caring for her husband and son while quietly searching for work, she never imagined baking would change her path. When her husband’s officemates began asking to buy her muffins, she hesitated at first but found courage through him.
“My husband kept pushing me to explore and believe in myself.”
A Family-Powered Start
Ralph, Yvette’s husband, began collecting orders from his officemates after they tried her homemade muffins. While Yvette baked between mom duties, Ralph brought her cakes to work. She began posting her creations online, and soon friends, teachers, and neighbors started ordering.
Her first decorated cake was for her son’s fourth birthday, which inspired her to take the craft more seriously. Ralph encouraged her growth and enrolled her in a cake decorating workshop. Later, during her pregnancy, when she became too sensitive to work with fondant, Ralph stepped in to assist with baking and decorating.
Together, they developed a creative rhythm that became the heart of Bloom Cakes by Winter. Some clients sent references, others gave full creative freedom. Their husband-and-wife teamwork became a defining part of the business.
The Juggle of Mom Life and Baking
Balancing her business and parenting was challenging, but Yvette found her rhythm. She worked while her kids were in school or asleep. During peak seasons, Ralph helped with production and logistics. Her children also enjoyed joining in prepping ingredients and decorating cake scraps just for fun.
“I used to think being a good mom meant putting myself last, but you can’t pour from an empty cup.”
From Loss to Light
In 2022, Yvette and Ralph experienced the heartbreaking loss of their third child. The grief was overwhelming, and Yvette stepped away from baking.
Through time, faith, and quiet courage, she found the strength to return. Piping buttercream flowers became a form of therapy and a way to slowly heal.
“Baking became therapeutic. Each flower helped me feel a little lighter.”
A Madiskarte Mom Through and Through
She found Madiskarte Moms PH while browsing Facebook in 2020.
“I posted my floral cakes and a bit of my story. Other moms ordered from me and even referred their friends. Some lived in the same village.”
Later that year, she was named one of the Madiskarte Moms PH 2020 Hall of Famers, receiving business capital and PLDT Home WiFi support.
“That really helped during the pandemic and boosted my confidence. I felt seen.”
She now teaches flower piping workshops and her kids assist with setup. She continues to learn, teach, and inspire other women to try.
Her Message for Fellow Moms
